Cotton factory fire in Chandpur

A cotton factory has been burnt to ashes in a devastating fire in Chandpur. The fire broke out at noon on Wednesday, November 10 in the South Tarpurchandi area of ​​Ward 13 of Chandpur Municipality. However, no casualties were reported in the blaze.

Workers at the factory said they had been working in the factory since morning. At this time a piece of rod suddenly came into the machine from the false and it caught fire with the spark attached to the machine.

The fire quickly spread around before anything was realized. If they are unable to bring the fire under control, they immediately report it to the fire service. All the goods in the factory were burnt to ashes before the fire service reached the spot.

The factory owner Billal Mia said that he had brought false cloth worth around Tk 8 lakh for making cotton 8 to 10 days ago and the last day he brought another cloth worth Tk 15 lakh. The victim Billal Mizi claimed that the goods worth around Tk 30 lakh including machine papers were burnt to ashes.

Billal’s younger brother Ali Ahmed Swapan Mizi said the fire caused a loss of about Tk 30 lakh, including cotton and false cloth and goods worth around Tk 20 lakh. In this incident, my brother has become destitute.

Sahidul Islam, deputy assistant director of Chandpur Fire Service, said three units of the fire service rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control within 15 to 20 minutes.

Primarily, it is not possible to say for sure the extent of the damage and how the fire started. It will be known subject to investigation.
