3 killed when covered van hit a sand-loaded tractor in Cumilla

Three people were killed when a covered van hit a sand-loaded tractor in Cumilla’s Chandina upazila. The tractor driver was seriously injured. The incident took place on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway near Harikhola shrine area in the upazila on Thursday, july 29 in the morning.

The dead were sand worker Nurul Islam (40), Faizur Rahman (40) and the driver of the covered van Litton (42). The deceased was identified as Nurul of Harikhola village under Chandina upazila. He is the son of Abdul Jalil of that village.

Faizur’s house is in Rangpur. His father’s name Abdul Khaleq. Litton’s address is not yet known. The injured tractor driver was identified as Amir Hossain, 38. He is undergoing treatment at Comilla Medical College Hospital. His home is in Harikhola area of ​​Chandina.

Highway Police Inspector Ziaul Haque Chowdhury of Cumilla’s Elliotganj outpost said the workers were loading sand on a tractor in front of a market near the Harikhola shrine area. A covered van was heading towards Dhaka on the Dhaka-Chattogram highway at around 8.15 am today.
