Current and ring nets worth Tk 11 crore seized in Hajiganj. In Hajiganj, the administration seized current and ring nets worth around Tk 11 crore and collected fines.
Executive Magistrate Enamul Hasan seized current nets and ring worth Tk 11 crore from four shops at Kaparia Patti in Hajiganj Bazar on Thursday night.
At the end of the operation, 33 lakh current nets and 470 pitch ring nets were seized. At that time, the mobile court fined the two shopkeepers ten thousand taka.
The operation was led by District Executive Magistrate Enamul Hasan from Thursday evening and was carried out by Shams, in-charge of the District Coast Guard, and his accompanying force.
Hajiganj Bazar Businessmen’s Association President Alhaj Md Ashfaqul Alam Chowdhury and General Secretary Haider Parvez Sujan rushed to the spot.
At the end of the operation, Executive Magistrate Enamul Hasan said 33 lakh meters of current nets and 470 pieces of china ring were seized from four shops in Kaparia Patti under the Fisheries Protection and Conservation Act. According to government estimates, the estimated value is 11 crore.
Besides, two shopkeepers were fined by a mobile court.
