Elections in New Zealand have been postponed due to infection. The New Zealand government has decided to postpone the national election due to a new coronavirus infection. The country’s prime minister, Jacinda Ardern, has said the election will take place a month later. He confirmed this on Monday.

Voting for New Zealand’s parliamentary elections on September 19 was scheduled to take place. But due to the increase in corona infection, the vote will be held on October 17.

New Zealand has been very successful in controlling coronavirus infections. But new infections occurred in the country last week. A lockdown was issued in Auckland, the largest city to control the situation. The parties have been demanding postponement of the elections due to the new Corona infection. According to everyone’s opinion, the date was postponed.

“I had no intention of postponing the election,” Ardern said. However, considering the situation in Corona, it has been decided to withdraw. We do not want to postpone the election after the new date has been set.

The country’s health ministry says the virus has re-emerged through people returning from abroad.
