Thousands of people of Bishnodi are terrified by the erosion of Meghna in Chandpur.Thousands of people in the northwestern Bishnodi area of Chandpur Municipality are living in panic. The area of Shahid Mofiz Road has been badly damaged due to the catastrophic collapse of Meghna. Two-thirds of this road, known as Barrier, is broken somewhere.
The Shahid Mofiz Road in the northwestern Bishnodi area is working like a barricade in this area. The road has broken down somewhere and has become narrow. If the rest of the road collapses, thousands of people will be in dire straits with their homes. Selim Mollah of this area has saved the area by throwing hundreds of sacks filled with sand on his own initiative.
Locals have demanded long-term measures. The road is in dilapidated condition as there has been no work on the road for several years.
Local Abul Mizi said that work in this area has not been done for about 20 years.
Another local, Azad, said the way Selim Mollah has come forward without being an elected representative in the area is truly commendable.
In this regard, Selim Mollah said, “I am a candidate for the post of councilor in the upcoming municipal elections on behalf of the Awami League in this area.This is my area. My relatives live in this area. I am happy to be able to do something for them on my own initiative.”
