Further Deterioration Of Flood Situation In 10 Districts Including Chandpur

Further deterioration of flood situation in 10 districts including Chandpur.The flood situation is stable in seven districts.However, there has been further deterioration in ten districts, including Chandpur.

Water Development Board Executive Engineer Arifuzzaman Bhuiyan said the flood situation in the central districts was deteriorating.

The water level of Brahmaputra river is decreasing which may continue till Monday. However, the water level of the Jamuna River is still rising and may stabilize by Monday. At this time the water level of Ganga-Padma river may increase.

Meanwhile, the water levels of major rivers in the Upper Meghna Basin in the northeast are declining, which may continue.

And the water level in the rivers around Dhaka district is increasing, which will continue till Monday.

The flood situation in Brahmanbaria, Kurigram, Gaibandha, Natore, Bogra, Jamalpur and lower Naogaon districts is likely to remain stable by Monday. On the other hand, flood situation in Manikganj, Munshiganj, Faridpur, Madaripur, Chandpur, Rajbari, Shariatpur, Dhaka, Sirajganj and Tangail districts may deteriorate.

According to Water Development Board, 18 flood-prone rivers are currently flowing at 28 points above the danger line. Although the flood situation has not improved overall due to reduced rainfall, it has not deteriorated in some areas.

However, towards the end of the week, the rainfall will increase and may deteriorate again.
