Government holidays for 2021 may approved today

The list of government holidays for 2021 is final. It May approved today .The list of public holidays for 2021 has been finalized. A cabinet meeting could be held on Sunday (October 25) to approve the list.

Relevant sources said that the list of government holidays for 2021 has been finalized by the Ministry of Public Administration. According to the draft list, in 2021, the general leave is 14 days and the executive order leave is eight days. Although there are 22 days of general and executive order holidays in total, there are seven days of weekly holidays on Friday and Saturday. The Prime Minister has given approval to raise the draft calendar in the cabinet. The Ministry of Public Administration will issue a notification in this regard subject to the approval of the Cabinet. Then the process of printing the calendar of 2021 AD will start.

According to the list, Shabebarat is on Monday, March 29, Shabeqdar is on Monday, May 10, Eid-ul-Fitr is on May 13, Eid-ul-Azha is on Tuesday, July 20, Ashura is on Thursday, August 19, and Eid Miladunnabi is on Tuesday, October 19. However, depending on the sighting of the moon, they move back and forth in one day, which is mentioned in the calendar. Republic employees have the opportunity to enjoy three days of optional leave on the occasion of the religious festival. Similarly, there is a provision of two days optional leave for the employees belonging to various small ethnic groups working in and outside the Chittagong Hill Tracts on the occasion of the main social festival Vaisabi or similar social festival.

Holidays include national holidays and important religious days for different communities. This includes four Fridays and two Saturdays. On the occasion of Bengali New Year and various important religious days, there will be eight days public holiday in the executive order. The executive order includes one day of weekly leave (Saturday) between holidays. Although the general leave and executive order leave is 22 days, due to the weekly leave Friday and Saturday, this leave is practically 15 days.

Meanwhile, a special session of the Jatiya Sangsad will be held on November 8 to mark the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The Cabinet will meet today to approve the President’s address in this session. Besides, the list of public holidays of 2021 of the Ministry of Public Administration may also come up in this meeting.

Weekly cabinet meetings are usually held every Monday. Monday is a public holiday due to Durga Puja. So this week’s cabinet meeting is being held one day ahead today. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will take part in the virtual cabinet meeting from Ganobhaban and the concerned ministers will be present at the secretariat. The meeting is scheduled for 12 noon.
