Government Will Purchase 27,000 MT Of Paddy And Rice In Chandpur

Government will purchase 27,000 MT of paddy and rice in Chandpur.The government will procure paddy and rice directly from 8 upazila of Chandpur district. In the current 2019-2020 financial year, 27,000 current Erie-Boro will purchase cooked and atab rice through millers.

An official in charge of the Chandpur District Food Controller’s Office told the Chandpur Times on April 29.

According to the information received, the government will procure 8,357 MT of paddy, 7,495 MT of cooked rice and 1,617 MT of Atab rice from 8 Upazilla of Chandpur in the current boro season. The government has taken this step to strengthen the food security of the country.

The Chandpur District Food Controller’s Office said it would finalize the rice procurement agreement with the approved mill owners on Thursday, April 30.

According to sources, the government has set a target of buying rice at Tk. 36 per kg, atab rice at Tk. 35 and paddy at Tk. 26 per kg in Chandpur. The rice will be procured from the mill owners approved by the District Food Controller’s Office. Paddy will be procured by the concerned respective Upazila Committees.

The procurement of rice in the district will start soon after the agreement is reached with the approved mill owners and will continue till August 31. There are also instructions for emergency stocking of farmers. A maximum of 3 MT of rice can be purchased from a listed farmer.

According to the Chandpur District Food Department, from May 2020 this year, the country will purchase paddy from farmers in all upazilas of Chandpur. Dealers will procure Chandpur rice, paddy and wheat from the farmers approved by the concerned Chandpur District Food Controller’s Office who are listed in the Agriculture Department and have agricultural assistance cards and are approved by their respective Upazila Food Committees.

According to Chandpur District Food Department sources, 744 MT of paddy, 3,528 MT of boiled rice and 168 MT of Atab rice in Chandpur Sadar, 86 MT of paddy in Haimchar, 43 MT of boiled rice And 15 MT of Atab rice,

From Hajiganj 1,289 MT of paddy, 648 MT of cooked rice and 231 MT of Atab rice, from Faridganj 1,360 MT of paddy, 683 MT of cooked Rice and 243 MT of Atab rice,

1,297 MT of paddy from Shahrashti, 683 MT of boiled rice and 319 MT of Atab rice, 1,680 MT of paddy from Kachua, 928 MT of boiled rice And 301 MT of Atab rice,

North Matlab 1,257 MT of paddy from the north, 647 MT of cooked rice and 225 MT of Atab rice and Matlab south 644 MT of paddy from the south, 339 MT of cooked rice. The government has set a target of collecting 115 MT of Atab rice.

Erie-Boro production target in Chandpur for the fiscal year 2019-2020 is 263,200. The Chandpur Farm House Agriculture Extension Department said the tonnage has been fixed. Farmers of Chandpur cultivate Erie-Boro, a hybrid, local and high yielding variety. More or less all the upazilas are cultivated in Erie-Boro. An official of the Department of Agriculture said that the target of cultivation of hybrid, local and improved yielding varieties of Erie-Boro has been achieved and bumper yields are expected.

According to the Chandpur Farm House Agriculture Extension Department, the target for cultivation and production in 62,000 hectares of land in Chandpur district this year is 263,200 MT of rice.

Sonali, Agrani, Janata and Bangladesh Krishi Bank and 24 private banks have been allocated Tk. 69.44 crore for disbursement of Tk. 248.72 crore in 420 state-owned banks in 8 upazilas of Chandpur in the fiscal year 2019-2020.

An official of the Chandpur District Food Control Office said, “According to official estimates, the deadline for purchasing rice is August 31.” Until then, the millers will be able to collect paddy and rice and supply it to the district food department.

Replying to another question, he said, “As per the government directive, the district administration and upazila administration of Chandpur allocate the rice and wheat through GR, TR, VGT, VGF, taka 10 per kg in case of emergency and VJF for Jatka conservation.” Which is distributed by the people’s representatives of their respective union parishads. ‘

Incidentally, the government has decided to buy 18 lakh and 25 thousand metric tons of food grains in the current boro season. Of this, 75,000 metric tonnes of wheat, 6 lakh metric tonnes of paddy, 10 lakh metric tonnes of rice and 1.5 lakh metric tonnes of boro atap rice will be procured. Of this, the government will procure 6 lakh metric tonnes of paddy directly from farmers at the field level. The food ministry has already fixed the prices of wheat, rice and paddy.

According to the Ministry of Food, in the current boro season, the Department of Food from the field level wheat at the rate of Tk. 28 per kg, at the rate of Tk. 26 per kg in 6 lakh. MT of rice, 36 taka per kg at 10 lakh MT of rice and 35 taka per kg 1 lakh and 50 thousand MT Boro will buy.

According to the deadline set by the Ministry of Food for the purchase of these crops, wheat will be available from April 15 to June 30, wheat from April 26 to August 31 and taka 6 lakh. MT of boro paddy, boro boiled rice from 7 May to 31 August. The food department will procure at the same time 1.5 lakh MT of boro atap rice.
