ICU unit is being launched in Chandpur 250 bed hospital

ICU service is being launched at the 250-bed Government General Hospital, Chandpur. From the beginning of the Corona period, the locals demanded the setting up of ICU. However, it was not happening due to the space crisis.

Finally, a few ICU beds were brought in Chandpur on an emergency basis last year due to the rising death rate of the corona. But it was not launched for almost a year due to various reasons including necessary goods and skilled manpower.

Chandpur Deputy Commissioner Anjana Khan Majlish said the ICU beds would be opened within the next week as the necessary equipment was allocated as per the demand.

“The necessary equipment has been allocated for the ICU bed,” she said.

If they are brought on Sunday, the ICU can be started. Because, now the room for ICU, oxygen line has been made. I tried and brought the equipment. The hospital authorities will take care of the rest.

Dr. Mahbubur Rahman, the administrator of the 250-bed Government General Hospital in Chandpur, said there was a shortage of some equipment for the ICU bed. We have got all the equipment needed to run four beds. We will send people to bring them on Sunday. Then the mechanics will come from Dhaka and do the fitting. We hope to be able to provide ICU services very soon.

He added, “We have already trained two doctors and 12 nurses to operate the ICU unit. They will be able to operate the ICU bed. We will start ICU beds with trained manpower. Besides, we have written a letter to the higher authorities asking for more skilled manpower.”
