600 kilograms of jatka hilsa seized at matlab.The Motilab North Coastguard has seized 600 kg (15 maund) of jatka (10 inch small hilsa) from the area between Akhlachapur and Mohanpur on the Meghna river in the northern upazila of Chandpur.
During the raid on Saturday, February 9 from 12:30 am to 6 am, Coast Guard Tashreef-4 and MV Achol detained the Jatka from two launches.
The campaign was led by Petty Officer A. Malek. Expeditionary team Coast Guard rescued 600kg of jatka fish from the launch without owner. The estimated market value of the rescued Jatka is Tk. 3 lacs and 60 thousand.
Assistant Fisheries Officer Sakhawat Hossain distributed the seized jatakas among the different madrasas, orphanages and poor people in the upazila.
