Illegal current net seized in Chandpur

Illegal current net worth Tk. 2 crore 21 lakh seized in Chandpur. BCG station Chandpur under Bangladesh Coast Guard Dhaka zone has seized illegal current nets worth around Tk. 2 core 21 lakh by conducting special operations in different areas of Padma-Meghna river.

This information was given by Lt. Commander Amirul Haque, Media Officer of Bangladesh Coast Headquarters on Thursday 23rd September.

He said that a special operation was carried out in different areas of Padma-Meghna river in Chandpur under the leadership of Lt. Ruhan Manzur under the direction of Station Commander Lt. M. Sadiq Hossai. At that time, 6 lakh meters of illegal current net seized.

The estimated market value of the seized nets is around Tk. 2 crore 21 lakh 50 thousand.

Assistant Fisheries Officer Chandpur Sadar Upazila Md. Mahbub Rashid was present in that operation.

He said the seized nets were later destroyed.

He further said that regular operations will continue in the areas under the jurisdiction of Bangladesh Coast Guard to maintain law and order, ensure public safety as well as curb piracy, curb robbery and drug trafficking as well as illegal fishing.
