Import of hilsa started in Chandpur.Every year, from August to October, the hilsa is mass season, but this year, the import of the hilsa has started in the main fishery at Chadpur.
Large size hilsa are being imported every day from 8 to 10 maunds. Besides, small plots of small size hinges are being regularly sold by the fishermen at the local Padma-Meghna river. In the last two weeks, the fishery has become active due to the import of large size hilsa from the south.
Activity has returned to wholesale, retailers, retailers and workers. Fishery traders said they did not see large-size hilsa imports at this time of the season, even in the 10-12 years.
A large number of traders brought large sized hilsa from southern Bhola, Daulatkhan, Charfashan and two trawlers on the banks of the Dakatia river on Thursday, January 30 at the big station fish. A trader from Ghat Fisheries said, “The size of most of these hils which are imported in two weeks is 1 kg. In today’s market, 1 kg of hilsa is priced per maund at taka 30-32 thousand, 1 kg 400 grams and 1 kg 500 grams of hilsa per maund at taka 36-40 thousand. Hilsha of every 500 to 600 grams per maund at Tk. 24-25 thousand per maund. Hilsa weights weighing 200-300 grams per maund at Tk. 10-12 thousand. Small size hilsa are mostly extracted from the Padma-Meghna river by local fishermen of Chandpur. It contains ‘jatka’ hilsa. ‘
Haji Sabebarat, general secretary of Chandpur District Fisheries Merchants Co-operative Society, said, “Imports of southern hilsa have increased two weeks. However, this hilarious season does not have the same taste as the hilsa. Normally, no large size is seen at this time. About 10-12 years ago, the hilsa was imported at this time. Naturally large sized hils are not imported at this time.
He also said, “The import of large size hilsa of Padma-Meghna river in Chandpur is low. About 6-7 traders from this ghat import hilsa from Southern region. These hils are sold in the local market of Chandpur and exported to Comilla, Dhaka, Gazipur, Tangail, Bogra, Dinajpur, Pabna, Mymensingh and Sylhet.
