In Chandpur, 12 fishermen and nets were caught for violating the ban.In Chandpur, the Coast Guard has arrested 12 fishermen for violating the ban on hilsa in the Meghna River. They were detained during an operation in Ananda Bazar area of Chandpur Sadar Upazila on Tuesday morning.
Besides, huge quantity of current nets and hilsa were seized. Chandpur Coast Guard Station Commander Enayet Ullah led the operation.
The government has banned all types of fishing, including hilsa, in the Meghna River in Chandpur from October 14 to November 4 to protect mother hilsa under the hilsa sanctuary program.
