In the ACC case Israq’s trial begins

In the ACC case, the mayor of Israq’s trial begins. In a case filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), the court has framed charges against the son of former Dhaka City Corporation mayor Sadek Hossain Khoka and Ishaq Hossain, the mayor of the BNP mayor of Dhaka South (DSCC). The formal trial of the case has begun as the allegations are framed.

On Wednesday, Sheikh Nazmul Alam, a judge of the Special Judge’s Court, Dhaka, framed charges against the accused. The court adjourned the matter on February 9 to take cognizance of the case.

Israq Hossain was present in the court when the charges were framed. His lawyer applied for relief from the liability of the case. The ACC lawyer, on the other hand, heard the composition of the complaint. The judge dismissed the plea and made a charge against him. At this time he claimed himself innocent and hoped for justice.

Earlier, on May 5 last year, the chargesheet was filed for not filing the asset statement. Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Imrul Quaish issued an arrest warrant on the charge sheet for not appearing in court on that day. The Special Judge of Dhaka ordered the transfer of the case to trial. He surrendered and took bail on 9 December.

On 6 December,2019 Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Satyabrat Shikder filed a charge sheet (chargesheet) against Israq Hossain in the court.

The complaint alleges that on September 1, 2008, notice was given to Israq Hussein and his dependents on the details of the property. On September 4 of the same year, the constable of the ACC went to his residence to issue the notice of the Commission. But Ishaq Hossain, who was not present, issued the notice by hanging a sketch tape on the left side wall of the entrance to the front of the residence in front of the four witnesses.

In those working days given by the ACC, the Mayor’s candidate, Israq Hossain, did not submit the assets in the prescribed form. The then ACC Assistant Director Shamsul Alam filed the case against Ramna police station on August 29.
