Mikhail Mishustin is Russia’s Prime Minister

Putin announced the name of Mikhail Mishustin, the head of the tax department, after the announcement of Dmitry Medvedev’s resignation as Russian prime minister.

The 53 year old Mishustin has been in the government for three years and has been the head of the federal tax service for 25 years. Meanwhile, Dmitry Medvedev has now been appointed as the head of Russia’s influential security council after his resignation to Putin.

Speaking to the nation, Putin said that Russia needs major constitutional changes. He proposed to give power to Parliament in the election of other important positions, including the Prime Minister. Putin also proposed a referendum for constitutional change in the country.

Without announcing a specific day of voting, she said, “I think it is necessary to vote among the people of the country for radical change of the constitution.”

According to the Russian constitution, no one can have more than two term presidents in the country. As a result, Putin will no longer be the leader of Russia under the current constitution after his term expires in 2024. Therefore, he proposed such a change in the constitution.

Russia’s local daily The Moscow Times reports that Putin is coming to power in the future with the radical change of the constitution. Putin’s critics claim that his plan is to change the constitution as in the past while staying at the center of power.

Putin made a crafty move until he was president of Russia for 20 years.
