Faridganj-Kachua municipal election tomorrow.Kachua and Faridganj municipal elections will be held on sunday, February 14. In this election, there are 3 candidates for the post of mayor in Kachua, 8 candidates for the post of women councilor and 44 candidates for the post of general councilor.
In Faridganj, 3 mayoral candidates with the symbol of boat, paddy sheaves and hand fans and 64 councilors in 9 wards and 11 candidates in reserved women’s seats are contesting the elections. Kachua Executive Officer Dipayan Das Shubha is the Returning Officer and Kazi Abu Bakar Siddique is the Assistant Returning Officer.
Kachua Municipality was established on 10 May 1998. The municipality is currently in the ‘C’ category in terms of civic service. There are 19,099 voters in Kachua municipality with 9 wards and 11 villages. Of these, 9,623 are males and 9,476 are females.There are total 9 centers.
Awami League candidate Nazmul Alam Swapan got the boat as the party symbol in the Kachua election, BNP candidate Humayun Kabir got the paddy sheaf symbol and independent candidate Ahsan Habib Pranjal got the telephone symbol.
Faridganj municipality consists of 20 villages in 9 wards with an area of 19.75 sq km. There are 15,934 male voters and 15,150 female voters. The number of voters is 31,084. There are 13 centers.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Shiuli Hari will be the Returning Officer and Upazila Election Officer Mizanur Rahman will be the Assistant Returning Officer.
Deputy Commissioners and Executive Magistrates of the district administration will monitor the election. All kinds of preparations have been completed. The required number of RAB, special team of police, will work as Striking Force.
