5 killed as private car loses control in Chandpur

Five passengers, including the driver, were killed after a private car lost control on a highway in Chandpur.

The accident took place at Purba Norah village of Chitoshi East Union of the Upazila on Tuesday, February 23 at around 12:45 am.

The deceased was identified as Md. Siddiqur Rahman Khokon, son of UP member of Ramdevpur village of Hasnabad union of Manoharganj Upazila of Cumilla. Shahparan Tushar (22), Shakil (23) son of late Rafiqul Islam of Narpaiya village of the same area, Rezaul Karim (23) son of Babul Miah of Champa Keshtala village, Md. Babul Hossain son of Uttar Khailkur village of Gazipur Sadar Upazila. Sagar Hossain (24) and Md. Nayan (24) son of A. Khaleq at Dhanyakhola village of Sharsha Upazila of Jessore.

According to the police, the private car was going to Manoharganj from Cumilla. When the car crossed the East Narah village, it lost control and fell into the pond. Five passengers, including the driver, died on the spot. Bodies and a private car were recovered in the incident.

Relatives of the victims said they were returning home after the wedding.
