Purchase of 5.5 thousand MT of paddy in Chandpur.All the Upazila Food Departments of Chandpur district had set a target of purchasing 10,695 metric tonnes of paddy in the fiscal year 2019-20 as per the government rules and the last date was 31st August. At present, the deadline for purchase of paddy and rice has been extended till September 15.

Acting District Food Controller Nityananda Kundu said this on Thursday, Sep 3.

Till that time, Chandpur district food department has procured 5,407.240 MT which is about 50 percent of the target. The target for boiled rice was 7,495 metric tons. Till that time 4906.266 metric tons have been conducted between govt & millars.

According to the agreement with 19 millers in Chandpur, the purchase target of Atap rice is 1,617 metric tons. A purchase agreement has been signed with Millers for 318 metric tons. Up to 1.50 metric tons have been purchased.

Chandpur district food controller in charge said that a meeting has been held with the millers of Chandpur district. According to the agreement, all the millers will supply rice by September 15.

Meanwhile, in response to another question, the district food controller Chandpur said that this time the farmers have higher prices of paddy in the market. As a result, they are not interested in the price fixed by the government, he said, adding that the purchase of paddy and rice is unlikely to be achieved.
