Sheikh Abdullah is no more

State Minister for Religious Affairs Sheikh Abdullah is no more on 13 June Saturday night at Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.

“He suffered a cardiac arrest after the evening and died at the hospital around 11:45 pm,” minister’s assistant personal secretary Nazmul Hoque Saikat confirmed the matter to The Chandpur Times.

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina mourned the death of the state minister.

Sheikh Abdullah was born on September 8 in 1945 in Gopalganj. In the war of liberation of 1971, Mujib became directly involved with the forces and participated in the war of liberation. When the freedom struggle of Bengalis started, he actively participated in the liberation war.

He passed the BCS examination held in 1973 under the government of independent Bangladesh. But instead of getting a job to serve the country through political activities, he decided to pursue politics under the leadership of Bangabandhu. He was later elected general secretary of Gopalganj district Awami League through the council. He performed this duty for a long time. He has been the Secretary of Religious Affairs of the Central Committee of the Bangladesh Awami League at the national level. He was appointed as the state minister for Religious Affairs in January 2019.
