Strong Depression Is Forming In Bay Of Bengal

Strong depression is forming in the Bay of Bengal. The Indian Meteorological Office has forecast rain again in the next 48 hours.

Alipore Meteorological Department official Ganesh Das said the depression over the Bay of Bengal has weakened and is moving towards Chhattisgarh via southern Jharkhand. This will result in light to moderate rainfall in South Bengal.

On 19 August, a strong depression is about to form again in the North Bay. As a result, heavy rains are expected in South Bengal, especially in the two Midnapore and South Parganas districts on Wednesday.

However, light to moderate rain is forecast on Monday. Scattered heavy rains lashed the coastal and western districts on Saturday. Fishermen have been banned from going to sea for fear of light-stormy winds along the coast.

However, scattered rains are also forecast in different districts of North Bengal in the next 24 hours. Rain is expected in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Kochbihar and Alipurduar. On the other hand, scattered rains are likely in several districts of South Bengal.

Rainfall has been forecast in East and West Midnapore, Purulia, Jhargram and Bankura districts. On the other hand, heavy rains are likely in North and South 24 Pargana, Howrah, Hooghly, East and West Burdwan.

It is to be noted that a clear depression has been created by storing energy on Saturday. As it is leaning towards south-west, it will not have much effect in West Bengal.

The depression is reported to have moved north, northwest since Sunday. Apart from Odisha, it will also affect Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Therefore, warning of heavy to very heavy rain has been given in these districts.
