All kinds of leaking nets prohibite to protect Hilsa

In order to protect hilsa, the government has banned any kind of nets smaller than 6.5 centimeters (2.6 inches) in the country. A notification was issued by the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock banning 13 nets locally.

The notification was published in the form of a gazette on Wed, July 15. The decision was taken under The Protection and Conservation of Fees Act, 1950, the circular said.

It said the government has banned the use of nets smaller than 6.5 cm (2.6 inches) for catching hilsa, no matter what the name. In addition to Zero Yarn Mesh, Two Yarn Mesh, Three Yarn Mesh, Nylon Mesh, Yarn Mesh, Mesh, Floating Mesh, Hilsa / Ilshe Mesh, Pocket / Insect Mesh, Silver / Silver Mesh, Kona Mesh, Sling / Khota Mesh, Sign Mesh In order to extract hilsa like these nets, nets of any name with small loops of 6.5 cm are prohibited.

In the notification, the method of measuring the mesh loop has been explained with pictures. That being said, the two opposite ends of a loop need to be measured by pulling inwards.
