Three killed in CNG & pickup van collision

An elderly man named Nur Mohammad Bepari was killed in a collision between a sand-blown pickup van and a CNG scooter at Chandra Union on the Chandpur-Highchar road.

The accident took place on Wednesday (Feb 5) at 9 am in the Khas Ghar area of ​​Chandra Union. The deceased was identified as Nur Mohammad Bepari, son of the deceased Asmat Ali Bepari of Gondamara Charbhanga village in Haimchar upazila.

The CNG scooter driver and three others of the same family were injured in the incident. The deceased were identified as Nir Mohammad’s wife Firoza Begum, his grandson Zahid Hassan, Amangir Hossain’s wife, Ameena Begum and Siraj Chaial, a CNG scoter in the village of Haimchar Kamalapur.

As the condition of the driver Siraj Chaial was in serious condition, he was sent to Dhaka for better treatment. The remaining injured were admitted to Chandpur Sadar Hospital.

Witnesses said the injured were on a CNG scoter on Wed morning coming from Himechar to Chandpur. When the scooter was adjacent to the Chandra Jabar Dali shop, a balcony pickup van left from Chandpur collided head-on with the scoter. The passengers on the scoter, including the driver, were critically injured in a bloody wound and witnesses were rescued and taken to Chandpur Government General Hospital for treatment. The working doctor declared the elder Nur Mohammad’s dead.

On receiving the news of the accident, Chandpur Model Police Station SI Ramadan took the body from the hospital and sent it to the morgue for autopsy.
Chandra UP Chairman Khan Jahan Ali Kalu Patwari, Highchamber 12, said the pickup van was seized from the scene. However the driver escaped.
