The ship sank in the Meghna River in the Harina area of ​​Chandpur Sadar on Tuesday evening.

Upon receiving the news of the accident, the members of the Coast Guard, Chandpur station immediately reached the spot and rescued the 14 sailors of the ship.

Chandpur Coast Guard Station Commander Lt. ASM Lutfar Rahman said the ship, named MV Izzaht-3, left Kolkata, India five days ago with 860 metric tons of fly ash for Meghnaghat in Bangladesh.

The ship reached Harina area of ​​Meghna river in Chandpur on Tuesday and anchored in the river due to strong current. Later, when the pressure of the current increased, its anchor broke and collided with two other ships on the side and sank. The rescued sailors are all safe,he informed.
