A teenager named Kamrul Bakaul (18) was killed in a lightning strike in Chandpur. His cousin Shahidul was injured in the incident. The incident took place at noon on Sunday, August 1 at Master Bankra village in Matlab South of Chandpur.
The deceased was identified as Kamrul, son of Milon Bakaul of the village. According to relatives, Kamrul worked for a company in the North Badda area of Dhaka.
Classmate Munna Bakaul said Kamrul and Shahidul spent some time on a bridge on the road on Sunday, August 1, in the morning when they went for a walk in the Master Bazar area. Later, seeing the cloudy weather, they left for home together.
As soon as they came in front of the house, they were injured by lightning. Later, he was taken to Chandpur Government General Hospital for treatment. Doctor declared Kamrul dead.
Chandpur Government General Hospital Medical Officer Farhadul Karim said he may have died on the spot due to lightning.
