One and a half thousand mosques including Masjidul Haram are opening after 3 months.The Masjid al-Haram, the Mecca of the Muslim world, is opening after a long three months. At the same time, one and a half thousand more mosques will be opened in the region. The mosques will be open from Fajr on Sunday, June 21.
The branch of the Saudi Ministry of Islamic Affairs in the province of Makkah is said to have prepared all the mosque worshipers for the five daily prayers. They said all precautionary measures have been implemented. These conditions include, for example, the use of single-use prayer rugs, the application of safe distances between rows, as well as ensuring the obligatory social distance of worshipers.
In line with the precautionary and preventive measures and guidelines set by the ministry, a number of volunteer teams assisted the authorities in preparing mosques in and around Makkah districts, according to the Ministry of Islam and Health.
Ibrahim Meli, executive director of the Azizia district center in Mecca, said the initiative was aimed at preparing mosques and large mosques in Mecca for worship and installing spacing stickers and ensuring the safety and conditions of worshipers during rehabilitation.
Earlier on May 31, all the mosques in Saudi Arabia, including the Nawabi Mosque in Medina, were opened.
Incidentally, in order to prevent the spread of coronavirus, Saudi Arabia announced a ban on congregational prayers in mosques. On March 18, the Council of Senior Scholars in Saudi Arabia decided to ban Friday prayers and five daily prayers in all mosques except the two holy ones.
The decision was taken at the 25th special emergency session of the Riyadh Council. Although the prayers were closed in the mosques, regular azan was arranged as before.
