Shahidul Islam is the new Ambassador of Bangladesh to the United States.
Professional diplomat M Shahidul Islam has been appointed as the new Ambassador of Bangladesh to Washington DC, USA.
This was stated in a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Thursday (September 03).
Shahidul Islam last served as the Secretary General at the BIMSTEC headquarters in Dhaka. He will replace M Ziauddin, the current ambassador to the United States.
Shahidul Islam is a BCS 1985 batch Foreign Service officer. He has previously served as Ambassador to South Korea and France, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Bangladesh Embassy in Washington DC, as Minister, Counselor and Director General of the US Wing of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Sources said that after all the formalities of his appointment as ambassador to the United States, he will take charge in Washington later this year.
