On Monday afternoon, the Department of Immigration and Passport collected a photo of the president, digital signatures, iris and fingerprints at the Bangabhaban, said Presidential Press Secretary Joynal Abedin.

Corresponding Secretaries of Bangabhaban, DIP Director General Major General Shakil Ahmed and Brigadier General Saidur Rahman Khan, Project Director of e-Passport Project were present on the occasion.

After the ceremony, the President said that the newly introduced e-passport system will play a very important role in implementing the government’s ongoing ‘digitization process’.

He hoped that people would get service in this manner in an easy manner, the Prime Minister said, e-passport system will maintain the image of the country abroad.

The renowned German company Veridos GmbH is dealing with e-passports and e-gates in the country. A 48 page and 64 page passport with a five-year or 10 year period is being introduced depending on the requirements of the DIP applicants.
