‘Strict lockdown would be imposed if health rules were not followed’

Chandpur Deputy Commissioner (DC) Anjana Khan Mojlish said strict lockdown would be imposed if health rules were not followed and masks were not worn. Because Chandpur is one of the 48 risky districts. Earlier, the corona infection rate was 13 percent. At present this rate has increased to 28 percent.

“We don’t want to impose tough lockdown,” she said. We want to implement government guidelines.

She was speaking as the chief guest at an exchange of views with upazila level officials at the Hajiganj Parishad auditorium at noon on Thursday, June 17.

The Deputy Commissioner further said, “We will be in a meeting with the Ministry of Health today regarding the precarious situation in Chandpur. Education Minister Dipu Moni will be involved at the meeting. A decision on the lockdown in Chandpur district will be taken through discussions.

Hajiganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Momena Akhter chaired the meeting. Upazila Parishad Chairman Gazi Mainuddin, Assistant Commissioner (Land) and Executive Magistrate Kaniz Fatema were also present.
