Schedule for Chandpur Municipality Election on 23rd or 24th August.The Election Commission (EC) will announce the schedule for the Chandpur municipal elections on August 23 or 24.
Earlier, the election in this municipality was postponed due to the death of a BNP candidate. Besides, the schedule of Dhaka-18 and Pabna-4 constituencies will be announced on any one of these two days.
After the 67th meeting of the commission on Monday, August 10, said the Secretary of the Election Commission Alamgir.
He said nominations would be given only for the candidate who died. We will hold a commission meeting on August 23 and 24. The election schedule of Chandpur municipality will be announced on any one of these two days.
The general election in Chandpur municipality has been postponed indefinitely due to the death of BNP-backed candidate Safiqur Rahman Bhuiyan. This election was supposed to be held on March 29. Earlier, the commission issued a public notice on March 16 and postponed the election.
The BNP nominee died on March 13 in the general election of Chandpur municipality to be held on March 29. On his death, the election for the post of mayor was declared void as per Rule-20 of the Local Government (Municipality) Election Rules, 2010.
The Election Commission has decided to postpone the election of reserved councilors and general councilors until further notice, the statement said.
