Combing operation of Chandpur Fisheries Department continues

The combing operation of Chandpur Fisheries Department continues.Protecting native species of fish in Chandpur Sadar, Haimchar, Matlab North and Matlab South 4 Upazilas of Chandpur District Mobile courts and campaigns are being conducted to stop the destruction of fish reindeer while catching all kinds of very small fish with nets.

The Chandpur Fisheries Department is conducting a ‘Special Combing Operation 2021’.

According to the information received from the control room set up at the Chandpur District Fisheries Officer’s Office till 12 noon on Saturday, January 16, 10 operations have been conducted at Chandpur Sadar, Matlab North, Matlab South and Haimchar along the Meghna-Dakatiya maritime area.

1 lakh 18 thousand meters of current nets, 2 mosquito nets, 8 gachhi nets and two and a half tons of jatka have been seized from Chandpur fishing area. Chandpur Coast Guard and Chandpur Sadar Fisheries Officer Sudhib Bhattacharya, Haimchar Fisheries Officer Mizanur Rahman and officials of Matlab conduct the operation.

District Fisheries Officer Asadul Baki said, “Hundreds of fence nets have been used in Chandpur maritime boundary to destroy fish breeding. River water is being polluted by poisoning and other species of fish are dying out. The fish they sell in the market endangers people’s health.
